My Travel Babble
About Us
My Travel Babble is the brainchild of two people with extensive travel experience. Bob and Claudia Brill have made a fun art out of traveling. They haven’t traveled as much as the well known super traveler, Arthur Frommer but they’ve traveled a lot. Bob is a jou
rnalist who was the former Bureau Chief for United Press Inte
rnational (UPI) Radio Network. In his position, based in Los Angeles, he traveled extensively in the weste
rn United States and covered the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. From there he spent time traveling in China, Macau, Hong Kong along with Claudia who joined him for the vacation. In Hong Kong the couple set up a sister school relationship with a local English teaching school. Claudia is a veteran teacher who has used her extensive traveling experience to brighten children’s lives. She is also expert at giving travelers those extra little tips to make the trip go better and much, much easier. Every tip she hands out is something she has tried and proven herself. They work. The pair has traveled half a dozen times to Italy where Bob has family and now the pair has many additional friends. Also, several trips to the rest of Europe including making long lasting friends in Scotland. The Brill’s aren’t people who take tours or go with packaged deals generally but on occasion this is sometimes the best way to go. Exploring another country however is at the top of their itinerary and this is the focus of their travel experiences. Bob claims to have visited 25 different countries in his travels even if one or two meant just an airplane stop. “If you land there, you’ve been there,” he’s often heard to say. The couple started www.mytravelbabble.com with the sole idea of making the lives of casual travelers much more interesting, and making their trips much more enjoyable. By lea
rning enough of a local language to get by, they feel your trip will be much better just based on the sheer fact the natives will give you credit for trying to understand them and their culture. You will be much better treated if you try to communicate with them in their own language than if you insist they speak English to you. This is the basis of the language web site they created. Bob remains as a jou
rnalist and writes a collectibles industry business newsletter called TBR: The Brill Report. This is available at www.kckings.com by clicking on the Newsletter tab at the top of the site. He has also authored some publications and is working on at least one book. The three Brill children have taken their parents wanderlust to heart having each traveled to several Asian countries as well as Europe early in their post teen lives. Bob and oldest son Bobby spent 30 days in China working on an as yet unpublished book dealing with the ever changing giant of Asia. Watch for “China: Ever Changing, Never Changing” in the not too distant future. This site is a subsidiary of Brill Productions which was founded in 1990 and is an umbrella to several different ventures the Brills own.
